Learn how to protect your puppy’s joints

February 15, 2021 by Carter Leave a Comment

It is expected that, over the years, your pet will become less and less active and spend more time resting. But aging isn’t synonymous with loss of health or quality of life, right? To avoid joint problems that may or may not be related to your dog’s age, pet meds online has prepared the following tips.

Leading causes of joint pain

The most common cause for your pet’s joint pain is arthritis, but it can also be caused by injuries, obesity, hip dysplasia, poor diet, and lack of physical activity.

Warning signs

Your puppy can demonstrate in many ways that there is something wrong with his joints, among them are:

  • Difficulty getting up
  • Limping when moving
  • Lick affected areas
  • Unusual behavior
  • Swelling in the joints
  • Stress

How to avoid this problem

To save your pet from joint pain, it is essential to maintain their physical and mental health. Feed your dog well, taking regular walks, and take care and attention. Joint problems can appear at any age, so always be aware of your best friend’s health.

Take care of the food.

Upon reaching the best age, your puppy may have difficulty moving, playing and even his balance may be impaired.

A balanced diet that meets your pet’s nutritional needs is the key to keeping your joints healthy. A proper diet usually contains amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Consult a specialized veterinarian and start offering appropriate food for your best friend.

Put your dog to run.

Physical exercise is also essential to maintain your puppy’s joint health. They contribute to increasing the joints’ resistance and flexibility and prevent your pet from sinning for excess cuteness. A hefty animal can overload the leg joints and further compromise its joints.

Running in the park or taking a dip with your four-legged friend can contribute a lot to his health.

Massage your dog

Massages will be very well accepted by your pet and benefit dogs that suffer or not with joint pain. Through massage, blood circulation improves in the region and helps to reduce any inflammation. Just don’t be alarmed if your puppy sleeps in the middle of the massage.
