Rugs: Tufted, Tasseled and Fringed

July 14, 2018 by Carter Leave a Comment

An important trend these days is tufted, tasseled and fringed rugs. Even though this trend is present everywhere in interior design, it is truly smashing in rugs. This is because they tend to be much more effective on rugs since rugs are already comforting and welcoming – these features accentuate this perception.

But how would we recognise rugs presenting these features? When we talk of tufted rugs we are referring of the way they are done by using a tufting gun. The advantage is that they are much cheaper and quicker to make than hand-made rugs. Tasseled rugs are quite recognisable due to the use of a ball shaped bunch of plait that has threads coming from it. A fringed rug will be much more subtle and simple, it looks like a border-like design feature that runs along the entire length of a rug side. It can be on all sides or just two sides but it will be always in the shorter sides.

When choosing a rug with these features, you can decide on only one or combine them, depending of your personal taste and the style of your house.

Tufted

Tufted rugs bring a cosy and homely feel. They are plush and perfect for digging your feet into when you need a bit of comfort after a long day of work. Even though they are a trend at the moment, these rugs are timeless as they are an all-time favourite – because the need of having a welcoming a warming house will never disappear, we know that tufted rugs will never become outdated! Tufted rugs are very versatile, so no matter what you like regarding colours, patterns, sizes or shapes, you will always find a tufted rug perfect for you!

Tasseled and Fringed

These rugs have been present for centuries, which makes them look interesting and attention grabbing thanks to their soft and eye-catching features. These rugs are perfect if you are looking to give a touch of sophistication and luxury to your place. Tasseled and fringed rugs used to be associated with power and prestige – and it seems this is still the case! Tasseled and fringed rugs manage to give a classy touch to your place without sacrificing style, colour or pattern in your rug, since such features are easily combined.

No matter what style you prefer, you will always find a tufted, tasseled or fringed (or combined) rug that will suit you!
