Practical Tips for a Minimalist Bathroom

August 19, 2020 by Carter Leave a Comment

The minimalist lifestyle has become a more widespread practice in recent years. People are tired of the clutter and overcrowded rooms, where there is hardly any space left to do much of anything. It is also a fact that collecting unnecessary items strewn around a room can affect the way we think. It is more difficult to focus, work, or perform other activities that require focus when the surrounding area is messy.

The bathroom is one place that can be filled up with so many useless items like empty bottles of shampoo, unused face creams, old toothbrushes, and other bits and pieces of throw-away stuff. A minimalist bathroom must only have the essentials and nothing else. You can invest in modern bathroom furniture as a kick-off for your minimalist bathroom. Here are a few more useful tips to help you get started.

The paint job

Give your bathroom a fresh look with more neutral colours such as grey or white. Apart from making the room look clean, it creates an illusion of space. It also helps make the room appear brighter, even if there are no windows. If your bathroom does have a window, these colours allow the natural light to enter. You can also have fixtures in brighter colours for accents if you wish, or keep them neutral as well. Your other accessories can bring in the added colour.

Keep it free from clutter

Get rid of the mess. This means that old creams, overused toothbrushes, empty bottles of shampoo, and other useless items are thrown out. Keep your bathroom free for only what is needed, with everything in its proper place. After using hair brushes, make sure that they are returned neatly to their assigned areas. You can find attractive baskets and storage bins for your other bathroom essentials. Get rid of decor and accessories that only occupy space. Instead, hang a few select pieces of artwork that complement the look of your bathroom. When you decide to add accents and other accessories to your bathroom, they must be simple and functional. If they do not serve any purpose, they should not be brought in.

Avoid overfilling your storage

You may have lots of storage room in your bathroom, but do not be tempted to overfill it. The main point of being minimalist is to keep everything to a minimum. Instead, these storage areas must be free for towels and other bathroom necessities. You can store newly-bought shampoos, soaps, toilet paper, and other items here but make sure that they are not overcrowded. Maintain the neatness of your bathroom closets and storage spaces.

When you have completed these things, your minimalist bathroom will be exactly how you want it to be. Nevertheless, it would help if you made it a practice to maintain it so. Remember to keep it neat at all times. If family members are also using the same bathroom, remind them how they should leave it after use. It would be a great idea if all areas of your home were minimalist too.
