How to Furnish an Apartment in Dallas

August 24, 2021 by Carter Leave a Comment

Dallas is an incredibly diverse city that has something for anyone who’s looking. Although renting can be a little expensive, it’s worth having such easy access to entertainment and industry. Unfortunately, once you score the dream place: it can be hard to decide how to furnish it.

If you want to make your apartment the best it can be, consider following some of these tips!

The Largest Flea Market in Texas

Less than an hour’s drive out of Dallas sits the largest flea market in the state! This fantastic market has acres upon acres of everything you could want, from furniture to clothing and even decor. If you head in, ensure that you have cash or are willing to PayPal or Zelle, a seller.

Not everything in this flea market is second-hand or antique; a lot of what you can find here has been restored or freshly made by local artisans. Luckily, by renting apartments in Dallas, TX, you’re close enough to this flea market to be able to go bargain hunting whenever you want!

Don’t Be Afraid to Use Craigslist

Craigslist has a bad reputation to some people; they assume that the goods here are old or aren’t usable: but this is a major oversimplification! A lot of Craigslist has incredible pieces that you can make fit into any space. Although there’s a lot that you won’t be interested in, if you spend a couple of hours digging through the items on this site, you’re sure to find things that will make your apartment into a home.

Try to Pick a Theme and Lean into it

If you’re unsure about what direction to go, consider picking a theme or color and leaning into it. Some people decide based on a single item, like a couch that they love, while others lean into the idea of creating a space around fandom or sports teams. Leaning into it, or allowing for the theme to decide color choices and furniture shapes, can help your apartment to feel whimsical and designer.

If You’re Not from Texa, Decorate With a Piece of Home

More people are moving to Texas than any other state, so if you’re reading this, then the chances are that you’re not from Dallas, but you’re considering moving to it. Consider using a piece of your home state or country and creating an homage to it in your home. This doesn’t mean you need to have flag pillows or that you have to lean into cliches, but consider how you can take a piece of home and make its decor.

For example, if you’re from North Carolina and miss the beautiful dogwood trees and their flowers, you can use dogwood blossoms in the art and parts of the decor. This is subtle, but it brings your homes together into one unified place.

Dallas is an amazing city with incredible sports teams, delicious food, and some of the best people you’ll ever meet. Although decorating a new apartment may be daunting, doing it right can make any space feel like home.
