Something which struck me when I started to look at the pieces that were available was the sheer design quality of some of those fireplace screens, some of them really are like pieces of art. The reason I say this is that we saw many screens which looked absolutely amazing but honestly wouldn’t stack up in front of an active fireplace. Always pay attention to the function of the screen.

Something else which I quickly noticed about these screens is that whilst some of them worked very well, they really did block the flame of the fire. I don’t know about you but one of my favorite aspects of a fireplace screen is that you are able to see those flames flickering and dancing around. Make sure that before you buy, no matter how great the fireplace screen looks, that you can actually picture the flames behind the screen and imagine what it would be like in the room.
Combination
A fireplace screen is a large item and no matter how big your room is you will find that this is one of the most noticeable aspects of it. Much like a piece of art then, it is important that you find the way to combine the style of he fireplace screen with the rest of the room, and the theme that you have chosen. For example if you have a cozy, country style room, then the last thing which you need is a fireplace screen which is modern… or medieval.
Cost
Make no mistake about it, if you have the funds to spend then you could find yourself spending a huge amount of money on this. Firstly a solid piece of iron is going to be pricy and then if it is hand crafted or custom then you are going to be looking at an even heftier price. Always ensure that you have a budget in mind before you go shopping, to avoid things getting out of control at the store.
