November 10, 2021 by Carter Leave a Comment

Insomnia is no joke. In the middle of the night, you are just laying on your bed staring at the ceiling, your mind won’t stop thinking. Even the tick of a clock can be annoying at this hour. Every single minute feels like an hour. Inability to fall asleep or wake up frequently is a problem of many. People struggle to get a good night’s sleep, but they fail. Sleep deprivation leads to anxiety, depression, and a drastic reduction in body and mind functions. A person fails to perform better if he is sleep-deprived. Getting prescribed medication for the sleep cycle can be risky, as they lead to dependency and many health issues. Here are the five natural remedies to help you improve your sleep time, that without any prescription. You can easily get a hand on these herbs in markets and online.

Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring substances in the cannabis plant. Delta 10 Tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta 10 THC) is one of the many cannabinoids that are present in small quantities in the cannabis leaf. Today, delta 10 distillate can be bought easily online. These cannabinoids are known for their psychoactive property. They make a person feel relaxed and calm. Thus helping in getting a night of good sleep. Delta 10 THC is known to ease anxiety and reduce nightmares. THC products can be consumed in the form of gummies, vape, and oils.

Melatonin

Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone. It is released in the body at night time and the quantities fall back during the day. Melatonin helps in sleep. However, a person’s natural hormonal balance can be disturbed and they are unable to produce the required levels of melatonin. It may also be possible that you require daytime sleep due to job requirements, such as night shifts. In such cases, melatonin supplements can be of great help. They are known to be safe for use over longer periods.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a herb that occurs in daisy-like flowers. It has been used as a natural remedy for many health issues over the centuries. Chamomile is particularly known for its aiding properties in digestion and sleep. Chamomile has an antioxidant called apigenin. This antioxidant binds to the receptors in the brain that resultantly reduce anxiety and induce sleep. Thus chamomile is referred to as a tranquilizer or sleep inducer. You can make a warm cup of chamomile tea and enjoy it before bedtime to help you sleep faster and better.

Lavender

Lavender is not just a beautiful purple flower plant. It has its therapeutic properties. Lavender belongs to the mint family, with floral fragrance and calming effects. Lavender is known to improve sleep. Lavender oil is available in the market as an essential oil. Just put a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow and enjoy a relaxed sleep. You can also infuse it with room fresheners and humidifiers to get a calming environment. Keeping a lavender plant in your bedroom can also help you with sleep-related issues.

Valerian Root

Valerian is a therapeutic plant native to Asia and Europe. For centuries, valerian root has been used as a sedative for the mind and nervous system. The plant is so effective and strong that it is commonly referred to as nature’s valium. The root has a collection of volatile oils and antioxidants that interact with the nervous system, helping the body relax. Valerian root not only improves sleep quality but reduces the time to fall asleep, known as sleep latency. Valerian root is taken in the form of medicine, just before bedtime or as tea.

Precautions

Before you rush to gather all these things to get a peaceful sleep, there are some things you should keep in mind. No doubt they are natural herbs but they still have some side effects. That, if not taken into consideration, may lead to drastic effects. Being said that, seek aid from these remedies along with a lifestyle change. Reduce caffeine intake. Introduce healthy activities in your life, such as yoga, swimming, exercise, etc. When your body is physically active during the day, you can get better sleep at night.
