Is Tbilisi of Georgia good for living?

December 5, 2025 by Carter Leave a Comment

Is Tbilisi good for living? That is the question that started to rise with the popularity of Tbilisi. Tbilisi has quickly become one of the most popular cities in the region for travellers, digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and expats—and after looking at the city, it’s easy to understand why.

The city manages to blend a laid-back lifestyle with rapidly expanding development, offering a unique mix of history, safety, affordability, and opportunity. It doesn’t matter if someone is relocating for work, remote life, or simply wants a fresh start; Tbilisi often exceeds expectations with its warm hospitality and dynamic atmosphere.

One of the biggest advantages of living in Tbilisi is the cost of living, which is lower compared to major European capitals. Groceries, utilities, data, dining, and public transport are all affordable, allowing people to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle without overspending.

The rental market is diverse—searching for an apartment for rent in Tbilisi will find options ranging from studios in new buildings to spacious homes in historic neighborhoods, with prices that match different budgets.

Tbilisi is known for its safety and community feel. Despite being a capital city, it retains a friendly, small-town energy. Neighborhoods are walkable, locals are welcoming and residents feel secure both during the day and at night.

Another benefit is the growing international environment. Entrepreneurs appreciate Georgia’s simple taxation system, fast company registration, and the country’s liberal approach to foreigners. English is widely spoken, especially by younger generations.

The city offers cozy cafés, nightlife, festivals, art spaces, and dining options representing both traditional Georgian and global cuisine. For nature lovers, nature and hiking trails are less than an hour away, making weekend escapes easily accessible.

Of course, no city is perfect, but most expats living in Tbilisi agree that the advantages far outweigh the drawbacks.
