Description: TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. A TENS unit stimulates nerve endings, in effect, blocking the pain from traveling to your brain. Instead, you feel a buzzing or a tingling sensation.

MidwifeRonnie's Personal Story: I originally bought this for use by laboring women, but I've replaced it with some special-purpose OB units. This is technically a medical device and is for short-term use only, maybe after you sprain an ankle. Or you could try to see if it helps with chronic pain, but this isn't available for chronic loan.
